WHAT IS PRP FOR HAIR RESTORATION?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) represents a hair loss treatment aimed at thinning hair. Utilizing the patient’s own platelets, PRP rejuvenates dormant hair follicles that have been inactive.

WHAT FACTORS MAY CAUSE HAIR LOSS?

Hair loss is often caused by three factors - Genetics, age, and androgens (Male Hormones). Patients dealing with balding, PRP will help reverse signs of hair loss. PRP treatments can help reactivate hair follicles and promote hair regrowth at the injection site, promoting blood circulation to the hair follicles and help the growth of new healthy hair.

What to Expect:

  • Treatments are non-invasive, require no down time, and treatment time is normally under 1 hour

  • There is minimal swelling, and the treated areas may be tender, however these side effects dissipate quickly. 

Results

  • For best results, consistency is key. Treatments are typically performed once a month, for 3-4 months. Anticipated results can first be seen within two to three months. Following initial treatment(s), semi-annual maintenance is recommended. 

COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY INSTRUCTIONS

PRIOR TO THE PROCEDURE

  • The morning of appointment, please arrive with freshly washed hair and with no products in the hair.

  • 7 Days prior to treatment - Do not take Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Naproxen, or corticosteroids. These drugs may inhibit the stem cells natural inflammatory response and may increase the risk of bruising.

  • If you are on any blood thinners, may be contraindicated to treatment: Lovenox, Heparin, Plavix, Xaralto, Warfarin (Coumadin), Eliquis

  • Stop taking 7 days before - Vitamin D, E, turmeric, John’s Wort, Flaxseed oil and fish oil (other oils high in omega-3 fatty acids) supplements

POST-PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS

  • May apply ice to the treatment area to alleviate soreness

  • It is normal for minor skin redness/irritation after treatment

  • AVOID

    • Anti-inflammatory medications such as Advil (ibuprofen), Motrin, or Naproxen for 48-72 hours post procedure

    • Physical activity, exercise, hot tubs, steam rooms, and saunas 48 hours after treatment

CONTRAINDICATIONS: 

  • Bleeding disorder

  • Anticoagulant therapy (blood thinners)

  • Immunosuppressive disorder

  • Accutane used within the last 90 days

  • Pregnant or Breastfeeding

  • Active skin disorder in the treatment area

  • Open wounds in the treatment area
